Nationally recognised quality awards scheme: “Growing together”

The aim of the Birmingham Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYCDP) is to support the development of quality early years and childcare provisions within the Birmingham area.

‘Growing together’ is a generic-scheme for children between the ages of 0-14. This is an evidenced based award and is primarily self –assessed against a set of standards provided by EYCDP.

The scheme aims to:
*Identify good practice already taking place
*Provide guidance to increase the quality of the provision
*Help improve ‘team sprit’ within the organisation by identifying clear
team goals

The scheme is externally verified by representatives of the local authorise who independently assess the programme and EYCDP trainers and quality task group are responsible for the internal verification of the childcare provision.

The structure of the quality award is that there are eight modules to complete:
1. Physical environment- health and safety
2. Interaction and relationships
3. Parents and carers
4. Adults
5. Learning environment
6. Planning and assessment
7. Learning and teaching
8. Learning and experiences

To achieve bronze a setting must complete 4 units
To achieve silver award a setting must complete 6 units
To achieve the gold award a setting must complete all 8 units

Little Folks Nursery was awarded ‘Gold’ on Thursday 15th May 2003.
